About Me

My name is Dr. Caroline Xiong (Dip. Acu., M.D., Ph.D.) and I am an Australian registered acupuncturist with over 20 years experience working at Chadstone Acupuncture Centre in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

After completing my Ph.D. study in Medical Science at the Monash Medical Centre (Clayton), Monash University, I switched my interest to Acupuncture. I then completed an acupuncture course at the Acupuncture College of Melbourne. At the start of my career, I spent at least 1 month per year for 5 years working in China. I practiced acupuncture with one of the world’s most famous acupuncturists, Professor Hua Xi Chan, at the Acupuncture Department Union Hospital of Tongji Medical University in Wuhan, China. Additionally, I worked with the famous acupuncturist, Professor Tang Fu Zhang, at the Acupuncture Department, Wuhan First Municipal Hospital in Wuhan, China.

To gain international experience, I took on an acupuncturist role in treating clients on Carnival Cruise Line ships in the Caribbean where I was ranked among the top 5 acupuncturists on their fleet.

My approach is different from other acupuncturists:

  1. I have strong western medical clinic experience (a medical doctor in China) and medical science knowledge (Medical Science PhD in Melbourne). I combine both traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine approaches to best analyse, diagnose and treat all my patients.

  2. I use a holistic strategy with my patients in not only treating on their symptoms but also focusing on the root cause of those symptoms. Therefore, my patients have benefited from gaining relief from their acute and chronic pain, and other health problems.

I have established a series of methods a process in patient care which includes inquiring, checking, assessment and consultation of a patient’s condition, and making a correct diagnosis and plan of treatment. I can perform all areas of major and minor acupuncture procedures such as Chinese Acupuncture, Electric-Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Cupping, Gua Sha (scraping), Moxibustion, Magnetic Therapy, External application of herbal creams and Meridian Massage (called Tui Na in Chinese), Nutrition and Lifestyle Advice.
